This comes at a time when more than 400 homebound seniors in Montgomery County are waiting to receive home-delivered, nutritious meals. Tomball, TX - According to the US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statics, employment of pharmacy technicians is projected to grow 20 percent from 2012 to 2022, faster than the average for all occupations, and Lone Star College has been, and remains, on the cutting edge of providing training and support for this profession. LSC has offered a Pharmacy Technology certificate since 2005.  As the demand for pharmacy technicians steadily increased, along with their responsibilities, LSC-Tomball responded by providing the AAS in Pharmacy Management in 2015. “With the additional responsibilities and training requirements, the Texas State Board of Pharmacy changed the training requirements for both pharmacists and technicians to receive formal instruction in sterile compounding by a program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), which is the same accrediting body for professional pharmacy schools,” explains Diane Broome, Director of LSC-Tomball Pharmacy Technology program. Magnolia, TX -  JoyRide Center is thrilled to announce that we have recently received a $15,000 grant from the Tomball Regional Health Foundation. The purpose of the grant is to replenish the JoyRide tuition assistance fund. According to Alexis Winder, Fundraising Team Leader, “We are thrilled to have been given this opportunity to provide tuition assistance.  This grant will allow JoyRide to provide 296 horse therapy sessions and vocational prep classes for client families who may not otherwise be able to afford it.” Thanks to this grant, JoyRide Center is able to provide tuition assistance to interested families beginning in the fall semester.  When a family is awarded tuition assistance, half of the total tuition amount is covered for that semester.  For example, if the rider is in an hour long class with a fee of $50, tuition assistance would pay for $25 and the family would only need to come...

Tomball, TX - Tomball Regional Health Foundation is proud to announce last week that they had funded a $75,000 endowment in memory of community healthcare and education advocate Elmer Lee Beckendorf. Mrs. Dorothy Beckendorf and family members attended the announcement ceremony at the foundation’s offices. The endowment will fund the cost of obtaining an Associate Degree Nursing for one student each year at Lone Star College-Tomball.  The endowment was gifted to the Lone Star College Foundation. Shattered Lives is an anti-drinking and driving program that was created by Mike Valdez, a former Assistant District Attorney of Montgomery County and Holly Pichette, a Paramedic for the Montgomery County Hospital District. February 27, 2014, Tomball, TX - Tomball Regional Health Foundation has awarded a grant to the City of Tomball for the installation of traffic control devices at the cities selected intersections. The device, known as the EViEWS Safety System, will be installed on Texas Department of Transportation traffic control boxes and at number of key intersections later this year. The system allows police, first responders and emergency service vehicle drivers to control the traffic signals at intersections, which provide a safer passage for official vehicles responding to an emergency, or transporting patients to Tomball Regional Medical Center. “The grant would allow us to acquire equipment to put in all of the electronic control boxes at traffic intersections throughout the city, and out beyond the city limits,” said Randy Parr, Tomball Fire Chief. Tomball, TX - Tomball Regional Health Foundation (TRHF) recently committed to providing Lone Star College-Tomball with $379,188 for support of the allied health programs at the college. The initial gift of $64,188 will be used to purchase equipment to enhance instruction in LSC-Tomball’s nursing and pharmacy technology programs. TOMBALL, TX – TOMAGWA HealthCare Ministries is proud to announce that its new Dental Clinic is running strongly after the first quarter of operations.   TOMAGWA has operated the dental program since January 3, 2013 and has seen approximately 547 patients and provided over $200,000 worth of dental services.  The clinic has offered services ranging from a routine checkup and x-rays, cleanings, fillings, extractions, bridges, crowns, dentures, partials as well as sealants on the younger patients.  Services have been provided by a staff dentist and volunteer dentists and hygienists from the community as well as Lone Star College Kingwood, Dental Hygiene School.  The dental program houses four dental chairs that are able to accommodate up to 2,600 dental visits a year, so we are well on our way to exceeding those numbers. “TOMAGWA is a Christian ministry that, by the Grace of God and in response to the Love of Jesus, provides quality...
