Flu Shot Event

Tomball Regional Health Foundation is Happy to Partner with Tomball Regional Medical Center to Host a Community Flu Shot Event

TOMBALL (October 5, 2016) – Flu Season is upon us and Tomball Regional Health Foundation (TRHF) is happy to partner with Tomball Regional Medical Center to host a flu shot event on October 22, 2016 from 9:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m.. This event will be open to the Community and held at Tomball Regional Medical Center in the Tower lobby entrance.  Tomball Regional Medical Center is located at 605 Holderrieth Blvd.

Influenza is a serious disease that causes individuals to become very ill and in some cases even require hospitalization. Tomball Regional Health Foundation’s mission is to promote wellness and improve health status for all residents in our communities through programs that enhance access to health care, preventative care and health education. “According to Jack Smith, TRHF Chairman of the Board, by providing these shots at no cost to the community we are helping to fulfil our mission by keeping our community members healthy.” Receiving the flu shot is the best way to reduce the chances that you will get seasonal flu and spread it to others. When more people get vaccinated against the flu, less flu can spread through our community.

The CDC recommends that everyone from 6 months and older should receive a flu vaccine every year. A flu vaccine is needed every season for two reasons. First, the body's immune response from vaccination declines over time, so an annual vaccine is needed for optimal protection. Second, because flu viruses are constantly changing, the formulation of the flu vaccine is reviewed each year and sometimes updated to keep up with changing flu viruses.

The flu shots will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.  Parental consent is required for children under the age of 18 and participants should arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork.
