Montgomery County, TX: Tomball Regional Health Foundation (TRHF), an organization striving to satisfy broader health needs in their community awarded Meals on Wheels Montgomery County (MOWMC) a $100,000 grant to serve residents in Magnolia– a grant large enough to eliminate the waitlist for Meals on Wheels in Magnolia. This comes at a time when more than 400 homebound seniors in Montgomery County are waiting to receive home-delivered, nutritious meals.

MOWMC Executive Director Allison Hulett said, “We are excited to partner with TRHF. The lives of 23 people, plus their families, will change because of this grant. It’s more than a meal; it’s a smiling face to break up a lonely day, a check to make sure each senior is safe – it keeps them out of the nursing home. It’s the best feeling in the world to call a senior and give them the news that we can now bring them their meals. ”

Thanks to the TRHF grant, the number of seniors waiting to begin service is shrinking. 23 additional seniors will now receive a home-delivered meal and safety check each weekday, bringing a total of 46 seniors on service in Magnolia alone. There are an additional 500 seniors already on service throughout all of Montgomery County. MOWMC’s goal is to eliminate the waitlist for good and feed every homebound senior in Montgomery County.
