Tomball Regional Health Foundation is honored to be able to provide funding to Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) to expand their Meals on Wheels programs in Tomball and Waller
Tomball Regional Health Foundation is proud to announce the funding to Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) for the expansion of their Meals on Wheels (MOW) program in Tomball and Waller Texas. NAM is a non-denominational, 501 (c) (3), community-based, multi-program social service agency that is supported by more than 50 congregations, 18 Service Partner organizations and more than 160 business Community Partners. NAM has served north and northwest Harris County since 1983.
NAM’s Meals on Wheels in fiscal year 2015-2016 (MOW) provided 134,011 nutritious meals to 1,034 homebound seniors and disabled adults, serving on average 600 each weekday and 91 individuals on Saturdays. Ninety-Three (93) low-income senior clients received monthly grocery deliveries to supplement their food budgets. Thirty five seniors received supplemental nutritional supplements as prescribed by their physicians. “We are very grateful for the partnership with Tomball Regional Health Foundation. This much-needed funding will enable us to continue serving the homebound elderly and disabled population in the Tomball area, said Carole Little, NAM’s President and CEO.”
MOW is growing exponentially as they see the need in our community and the 24 zip codes they serve in northwest Harris County. Most of the seniors and disabled adults are low income and have multiple health care needs and could benefit from additional nutritional support of having shelf stable meals available when we cannot deliver their normal hot meals to them in case of an emergency. The services we provide are an individualized face to face home visits with each client, assessment done to identify no only their nutritional needs but any unmet needs a person may have, some seniors most often have other needs in the home that can be addressed by the case manager thru referrals to community agencies, along with our dedicated volunteers delivering their hot meals to them five days a week.

More than 340 people in the Tomball/Waller area will receive shelf-stable meals and other equipment for seniors that will help improve their quality of life, said Carole Little, NAM’s President and CEO. “
